I've been reading all the posts since I can hardly catch up and you're right, I've been usy with school stuff too but I still read this thread whenever there's an update I just don't post.

CHAPTER 19: HOW LONG WILL I BE WAITING

Early the next day, I woke up and greeted the morning with a surprising big smile on my face. I went out to the terrace again and surveyed beautiful Australia. Maybe she will help me move on once and for all.

I went in the hotel room again and got in the bathroom in a rush. So much to explore, so little time.

A quarter an hour later, I was rushing out the room. I scribbled a note and left it on the small table near the window. It was for my mum and Klara telling them I was out and that they could contact me on my mobile.

I rushed out the door just when I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it out and saw Danny's name flashing across the screen.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe. I didn't call him yesterday like he asked me in his text.

"Hello?" I held my phone against my ear.
"Hey. Just decided I'd call since I figured you didn't get my text."
"You sent me one?" I feigned innocence while I bit my lip. I have never lied to him before.
"Yeah. So anyway, what are you up to today?" He asked not doubting me.
"I don't know really." I continued down the hall to the lift. "Listen, I have to go. Talk to you later?"
"Oh. Okay." He said in a sad tone.

We said our goodbyes and I stuffed my phone in my pocket with a sigh. Why am I doing this???

After days of trying to get myself around Sydney and getting lost most of the time, I decided to call Alex on friday. He agreed to meet me at my hotel.

First, Alex took me to the nearest Starbucks where we ate breakfast and he gave me views of what I should be expecting for the "tour". It sounded interesting and I was really excited.
He showed me to the mall where he let me move around aimlessly. It was fun actually. I got to talk to people to ask for directions. Some were happy to help and others were kind of annoyed but helped me all the same.

Then, Alex took me to the beach. It was kind of a long drive but we chatted on the way.

Alex was awesome. Well, until he made a move on me that is. I started going in defense mode 'cause I seriously was not in the mood to deal with this and was in no way ready for a relationship. He was tracing shapes on my leg as we sat awkwardly on the boardwalk overlooking the beach. Luckily though, my mobile rang.

"I have to take this." I said and hurriedly walked away from the spot.

It was my sister asking where I was. She told me Danny had called her asking if I were okay and did this long speech of how he was still looking out for me even if I broke up with him. She really got me thinking.

I walked back to Alex and we started talking again. I pushed my sister's speech to the back of my mind.

"Look at how the sky turns pink and orange as the sun sets!" Alex exclaimed.
"Danny and I went to a park in our hometown a few months back. The sun set was amazing from there too. It was fun." I said with a smile as I remembered the eventful day.
Alex looked at me; annoyance on his face. I looked at him innocently.
"Why do you always talk about that ex of yours? We've only talked for a day and you keep rambling about him. And how do you expect me to match up to him if you can't forget about him? Surely there's a good enough reason to leave him behind since you yourself broke up with him!" Alex burst out.

I stared at him in silence and processed everything he said. He got up slowly paced in front of me.

I was suddenly hit across the face by realization. I don't know why I'm a slow person, but it was there. I finally realized it.

"Maybe I don't want you to match up to him. Maybe I just want to be your friend. You're a great person and you just helped me realize something. I'm sorry but I have to go." I stood up and straightened my clothes. "Thank you, Alex." I said before I hurriedly ran to hail a cab.

Guilt washed over me at that moment. How could I find time to tour the city with Alex but not enough to call the person I love who I left at home?
