Good to know dude. I'll probably put it up as soon as the board RE-opens. If you haven't heard yet, we're TEMPORARILY shutting down to do some forum clean up. We'll be back in three days though.

CHAPTER 15: THERE'S STILL TIME FOR YOU

"What?" Danny sat up straighter and examined my pale face.
"Dad's in critical condition..." I whispered as I stared into space. My body was shaking and I was cold but beads of sweat were forming on my forehead.
"Wait here." Danny stood up and went I don't know where. He came back with a glass of water and was again running somewhere else in lightning speed.

I pulled out my phone and dialled my sister's mobile.
"Klara, put mom on." I ordered as soon as she muttered hello.
"Hello?" My mom said faintly.
"Mum?" My lips stared quivering. "Mum, I'm sorry I left. I....it's....I'm sorry." My voice started cracking and tears began to fall.
"It's okay dear."
"How is he?" I asked quietly.
"Get here as soon as you can." Her voice was cracking, too. I sobbed while I listened to my mother's breathing. Danny sat beside me and pulled me in a comforting hug which made me cry even more.
"Shhh...tell her we're leaving now." Danny said softly as he rubbed my back.
"Mum...I'll see you later. We're leaving now. Bye."

As soon as I ended the call, I sobbed into Danny's chest and he soothingly held me close and calmed me down. After about five minutes of silence, I calmed down a bit and stared into space.

"Blake..." I looked up into Danny's blue eyes. He stroked my cheek.
"Do you want to go now?" I nodded and he helped me to my feet.

When I turned to he door, there sat my unpacked bag that I brought and another bag. I looked back up at Danny. He smiled sweetly.

So that's what he was doing running around....
I held out my hand and he took it as we silently walked to his car and prepared for the drive to Bolton.

The whole ride, I gazed out the window into the cold, dark night. I felt Danny observing me, but I didn't mind him. He kept quiet throughout not once bothering my silence.

Soon enough, we were pulling up in the hospital parking lot. As we walked up to the main hallway near the ER, I turned back to Danny; tears threatening to fall from my eyes. He took my hands in his and looked me in the eyes with a smile. I nodded softly and swallowed the lump in my throat.

We walked hand in hand towad the chairs in front of the ER. As soon as I saw my mom and sister, I let go of his gentle hand and ran toward them; tears falling freely.

"Is dad okay?" I asked them both and they looked at me with sad eyes and shook their heads. I dropped on my knees in front of my mum.
"I'm sorry." I said over and over in between sobs.
"It's not your fault." My mum said.

Suddenly, a doctor walked out of the ER. He looked at us.
"Mrs. McGregor?" He asked. Mum nodded.
"I'm sorry." At that moment, I started crying and sobbing even harder and Danny held me in a hug the whole time. I don't know what my sister and mum did, but at that moment, I felt horrible and pained.
"Can I see him one last time, please?" I begged. The doctor hesitated, but nodded.
I wiped my eyes and tried to calm my breathing. "Please come with me." I looked at Danny. He took my hand and nodded.

We cautiously walked into the ER where my dad lay. I walked over very slowly half expecting him to slowly open his eyes and smile at me like last time when I came in his hospital room. But.....he didn't. He just lay there immobile and still.

Surprisingly, I felt calmer and my breathing was steadier. I moved closer to him and looked at his peaceful face.
Take care of yourself dear. I'm so proud of you. I love you. His final words lingered on my mind.
"I love you too daddy. I love you, too." I slowly placed a kiss on top of his forehead......but instead of the warmth of a living body, my lips came in contact with something cold and lifeless.

I took a step back beside Danny and we both looked at the body of the man who has always been in my life...and will forever be living inside my heart.
