My internet connection was crap last night, my computer is busted at the mo (which is why I'm snooping around in my brother's room for this) and I had a very very tiring workshop today,

CHAPTER 11

I had let out enough of my frustrations through the weekend. Sadly, it was my brother who had to suffer through my bad temper.
He and Dougie hung out that Saturday. No word from him about what Dougie might or might not have said. I guess it's a guy thing not to say anything.


On a Monday morning, I woke up to a knock on my door.
"It's Marco." The person knocking said. I got on my feet slowly and opened the door.
"Dougie's here." He said flatly making my jaw drop open.
"What?" I cocked my head to figure out if I heard him right.
"He's downstairs. He says you both need to talk."
"Damn right. But it's six!" I explained and rubbed my eyes.
"Better hop to it then."
I sighed heavily. It's him who shall be blamed if I fall asleep in class later today. "I'll be right down." I rolled my eyes and got myself in the bathroom.

When I went downstairs, I found Dougie in the kitchen with Marco. I was surprised to see only the two of them in there.
"Mum and dad left early." Marco explained. "I'm leaving too so you can both talk. Lock the door." He walked out the kitchen and the front door opened and closed followed by a car engine starting up and driving away.
I looked at Dougie blankly before finally sitting across from him.
"I'm sorry about what happened last Friday."
"It's okay." I said softly.
"I don't think I did the right thing."
"I overreacted so I'm sorry, too." I said.
We stayed quiet for a while with our heads hanging low.
This wasn't the Dougie I met in that room on the first day of school. This wasn't the Dougie I hung out and fell in love with. This wasn't Dougie at all. The person that sat right across me didn't posses anything that reminded me of the Dougie I know. Sure, they looked the same....but it was his personality I fell in love with. The person beyond the good looks.
"Have you had breakfast?" I broke the silence; my head still bent down slightly.
"Yeah. You go on ahead." He replied.
"I think I'll pass." I stood up.
"Off to school then?" He asked.
"Yeah." We exited the house and I locked the door behind us. Dougie walked over to his car and opened the passenger door for me like he always did.
"I'll walk. Thanks."
"What? Come on."
I stuck my hands down my pockets. "I think the walk will give me time to think and the fresh air will clear my mind. I suggest you think things over as well." I breathed deeply and looked up at him. "I'll see you in school."

"Dougie and I talked today." I reported to Max as we ate.
"And?"
"I don't know. There's something about him that's off. It was awkward. He said he was sorry though. That's good."
"That's great!"
"Yeah."
"Any chance I'll see him around with us again?"
"I don't know, Max. I don't know." I replied honestly.
"Oh." She said. I looked at her with a questioning look.
"Why?"
She picked on her food with her fork before looking at me. "I just hate seeing you like this. You seem to lack that happy glow whenever he's not around. I was kind of hoping that since you guys talked already he'd start hanging out with us again."
"Thanks, Max. I'm hoping that same thing, too. But I want him to hang out with us, not because I tell him to, but because he wants to."
She nodded understandingly.
"Hey. I was thinking." I waited for her to meet my gaze. "What do you think about you, me and the mall on Saturday?"
"Girls' day out? Sounds fun." She smiled brightly.
"It will be!"
