I'm actually illegally here but I'm logging off after this. I've already written down chap 4 and 5 pero no time to post yet. I'll see if I can sneak chap 4 tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

Anyways...I'm off now. I'm going to bed in a bit. I have a long day tomorrow.

CHAPTER 4

“Where were you yesterday?” I walked beside Max towards the school library.
“Oh. Uhh…I had to do some researching.” I lied.
“Research? It’s the first week of classes. There’s none yet.” She pointed out.
“I know. I just wanted to do one for extra credit. You know, being the new syudent and all, I have to show I’m actually interested in studying.” I held open the library door for her.
“Fair enough.” She shrugged after contemplating.

“Hey, want to grab some food?” Max asked as we walked out of the library.

An hour of pretend-researching has left me with a grumbling stomach. I was about to say when…

“Hey Ari.” Dougie’s voice came from behind us in the hall. I slowly turned around and faced the blonde walking towards us.
“Yeah?”
“I’m heading to the diner. Want to come with?” He stopped beside us.
“Am I that thin? People seem to think I want to eat. Anyways, sorry Doug. Max offered first.” I gestured to the now silent girl beside me. Dougie flashed her an awkward smile.
“Maybe next time, yeah?” Dougie said about to leave.
“Next time. See you around.” I grabbed Max’s arm and pulled her beside me.

“How come I’ve been in the same grade and school as him and he’s never even noticed me?” Max looked at me enviously. “I bet he doesn’t even know my name!”
“Maybe ‘cause you haven’t tried getting to know him?” I offered before taking a bite of my burger.
“Well…not necessarily ‘haven’t tried’.” Max dropped her gaze on her food.
“Let me guess, you end up staring at him instead of talking.” I said jokingly. Max fell silent. When I looked at her, she was blushing.
“No way!” I nudged her in disbelief. “Oh gosh!” I started giggling.
“It’s not funny!” She protested as she started laughing along. “He’s so amazing and I always seem to be admiring everything about him.”
“Sorry.” I tried controlling my laughter. “So you like this guy?”
“Not really ‘like’. I’d say it’s infatuation.” She confessed with a chuckle.
“So can I have then?” I joked.
“What? You’re actually interested?” She said wide-eyed.
“Weirdo. No. I’m just asking.” I laughed.
“I don’t own him. Whatever.” She dismissed it. “And I’m sorry you had to turn him down this afternoon.”
“Nah. We’ll hang out some other day.” I shrugged.
“Hang out? Is that a new term for ‘go on a date’?”
“We so are not dating! Thing is, he’s the first friend I made when I went to your school.”
“Art class, right?” I laughed at the thought.
“Yep.” I nodded my head.

I walked home from the café Max brought me to. When I arrived, my brother greeted me with an interesting question.
“Who’s Dougie?” He asked; eyes glued to the television.
“My new mate. Why?” I took off my coat and hung it on the back of a chair.
“He called looking for you.”
”Did he leave a message?”
“No.”
”Oh. Thanks.” I turned towards the staircase.
“Anything I need to know about this Dougie?” This time, he turned off the television and faced me.
“No. Besides, when did you care?”
“When someone’s trying to ask out my little sister, I care.”
”Chill, dude. He’s not asking me out.”
”Does he have a girlfriend?”
“No.” I shrugged.
“He’s asking you out.” He repeated matter-of-factly.
“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes and turned to the staircase again. “I’m heading up.”
“Just tell your mate to be cautious.” He called from the living room.
“You wouldn’t dare.” I replied.

CHAPTER 5

I listened to the teacher’s formal voice quietly. Though I tried so hard to listen intently, no words from his mouth made sense to me. I closed my book in defeat and focused on the window. I let my subconscious mind take over and was soon in a silent trance.
There was no point in forcing myself to understand when I was not fully into it. I guess I’ll have to catch up some other day.

I was awoken from my daydream when a crumpled piece of paper hit my right leg. I glanced to the people behind me with a fierce look before finally picking up the crumpled sheet.



I looked right at Dougie and studied him. When he noticed me looking, he flashed me a smile. I rolled my eyes and mouthed ‘NO’ before turning my back on him.

“Lovely lovely Friday!” Max stretched out on the stairs beside me. “How’s your first week been?” She glanced at me.
“Okay…I guess.” I said in monotone.
“That bad? You met Mr. Popularity! I’m sure that somehow upped everything!” Max stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“I guess?” I chuckled. “And speaking of.” I said as I saw Dougie approaching us.
“I swear you were talking about me.” Dougie said as he sat on the lower steps in front of us.
“Modest much?” I rolled my eyes.
“Hey Max, do you mind if I borrow Ari for the rest of lunch period?” Dougie turned to Max.
Gosh! He does know how to pick who he’ll ask permission to. Knowing Max, I grabbed my things.
“Yeah. I don’t mind.”
“Let’s go, popularity.” I stood up. “And you,” I turned to Max. “I shall call you later.”

“I’m sorry I had to drag you away from her.” Dougie said as he closed the door after him. I sat on a chair and faced him. This time, he didn’t take me to ‘The Room’, he took me to the auditorium. The choir had a scheduled practice earlier on and some instruments lay all over the place.
“Yeah. Whatever. What’s the big idea anyways?”
“Well,” He started as he picked up a guitar. “You still owe me your company since you turned me down Wednesday.” He glanced at me before strumming some chords.
“Is this it then? We’re even?” I sat back on my chair.
“This and dinner with me on Saturday.” He strummed steadily.
“Unfair. I only turned you down once you know.” I crossed my arms across my chest.
“True. But hey, I want to hang out with you.”
“Fine.” I sighed.
“Cool.” He flashed me a smile. “…she’s a yellow pair of running shoes…a holey pair of jeans…she looks great in cheap sunglasses…she looks great in anything…she’s I want a piece of chocolate…take me to a movie…she’s I can’t find a thing to wear…now and then she’s moody…” He sang softly with his eyes closed. Hearing his voice, I was captivated. I stared at him in awe as he hummed to the tune he made.

He seriously has to stop doing that. He’s just so………hot!
