Yeah. The smuggled ones are the only ones I could give you. lols. I write them during class hours when the teacher starts rambling about things I don't care about listening to. I cross my fingers at getting caught

I was in a really chronic corny mood today. Love was the topic for most conversations.
Anyways...here's the promised chap. I hope you like it. And this time....it's long.

CHAPTER 6

"Do I look okay?" I put in the stud of my right earring and did a slow turn in my brother's room.
"Where are you going?" He flopped down on his bed; eyeing me curiously.
"Dinner. Do I look okay?"
"With who?" He ignored me.
"You're not answering my question." I said in an annoyed tone.
"With who?" He repeated in a serious tone.
"Dougie." I shrugged.
"I told you he was asking you out. Did you tell him to keep cautious?"
"It's not a date." I crossed my arms across my chest and walked out of his room. "Gosh."
"What's with the pearl pendant neckace then? If I remember correctly, you wear that for good luck." Marco followed me out.
"It's so I don't mess up-"
"So you can impress him!" he cut in.
"Fu*ck off!" I slammed the door in his face.

I walked to my miror in a huff. I surveyed my reflection thoroughly.

"Aribella." A knock came to my door followed by my brother's voice. "I'm sorry. You look great by the way."

I sighed in defeat; calmed by his last two sentences. I walked over to my door and opened it to my brother. He pulled me into a hug.

"I'm sorry I'm being like this. I just...it's programmed in my head that I'm supposed to keep guys away from you. I don't want to see you get hurt." He said with a small smile.
"Yeah. I get that whole brother thing. You overdo it sometimes!" I complained with a laugh. "Don't worry though, I can take care of myself." I assured him.
"But-"
"Marco." I said in a warning tone. "Chill. When I do need help, you'll be the first one I'd call. Okay?"

"Aribella. Your date is here." My mum called from the bottom of the stairs. I looked my brother in the eye; my cheeks coloring. He flashed me a small smile and offered his hand. Together, we descended the stairs and found my mum and dad in the living room with Dougie.

"Mum, dad and Marco...this is-" I said.
"Dougie." Dad said in a serious tone.
"-and he's not my date." I added quickly. "He's my very first mate in school. Remember?" I looked at my mum.
"Oh. This is him? Nice to meet you then." My mother smiled.
"Likewise." Dougie beamed back. "So...uhh. Shall we go?"
"Yeah. Just let me get my coat and bag."

"Sorry about my weird family." I said as we walked to Dougie's car.
"It's okay." He opened the passenger's door for me and walked over to the driver's side.

Impressive. I didn't know guys like that still exist.

"So where are we going?" I said as he pulled away from our block.
"No idea, really. I'm going unplanned. You'll get a first-hand glimpse of my idea of a fun night." He declared.
"I'm ready." I sat back with a smile.

First stop: Arcade.
Dougie pulled over outside the local arcade.
"Gosh! I haven't been near an arcade for some time now!" I exclaimed as I eyed the arcade from inside the car. I looked over at Dougie who smiled brightly.
"Come on." He got out of the car and opened my door for me. He then locked the car and walked with me to the arcade. He grabbed some tokkens and we started searching for a nice game.
"Speed Racing?" He pointed to the racing game on one corner.
"Are you sure? If I remember right, I'm good with that." I said with a laugh.

With much taunting, I lost. Dougie was a natural at Speed Racer. What made it fun was the fact that he didn't go easy on me. I personally find it quite annoying when a guy does that; even my brother.

"So what's next?" I said as I walked beside him.
"Hmmm. You choose." He said with a smile.
"Basketball!!!" I pumped my fist in the air and led him to the hoops.
"This time, you're going down!" I said.

The game ended well. It was a definate match-up ending with an 87 to 90 score. The winner.......it was me!
Dougie couldn't believe his eyes when I started scoring. I was on a roll!

"How'd you manage to score higher?" He said as we walked to another corner.
"Marco used to make me play basketball at home. I've grown to love the game." I said with a proud laugh.
"I'm never good with sports." Dougie confessed.
"Really? What do you do in your spare time then?"
"Guitar. Bass. Sing. Whatever comes to mind." He shrugged.
"Interesting. You should give me a proper show next time."

We played a few more games before deciding we were hungry enough to go and eat. We left his car outside the arcade and walked to the pizza parlor about two blocks from there. We walked in silence under the moon-lit sky. Dougie offered to bring my purse, which was in his right hand, and his left arm was linked with mine. We remained silent the whole walk.

When we got there, we grabbed a nice table on one end of the parlor. We ordered a pepperoni and some drinks to go with it. Silence was still dawning over us after we ordered.

"I noticed you don't talk that much." I said.
"You'll be surprised that I don't actually talk at all. Well, except when I'm with you. I like talking to you." He said.
"Thanks, I think." He smiled. "Why is that? If I may ask."
He pondered on my question. "I don't know really. You're talkative. That's a fact. It just seems to rub off on me."
"Should I take that as a complement?" I said with a chuckle.
"Yes you should."

Our pizza arrived fifteen minutes after. Most of the wait was filled with silence and idle talk. It wasn't an awkward one. It wasn't near weird even. It just seemed like we were both caught up with our own thoughts and neither of us were bothered by the silence.
It was one night that I will truly remember. It was a night with my dearest mate.
