“You like her, right? It’s obvious…” And Tom continue walking

That’s it? Just because I like her? Tom looks like he’s keeping something from me… And I felt that it’s connected to Anna… Well, I think I should find out what’s it. And I guess I need to hurry up a little because the bell is ringing…

“Good morning class. Our lesson for today is…”

Our first subject today is History. For the past several years of my school life, if the subject is History, I’m always up to it, but… no, not this time. There are really a lot of things that keep bothering me. First, the guy who helped me this morning, I really felt that it’s Dougie but I don’t have any proof. Second, that “something” Anna did last night. And third, Tom’s reason why he will never like Anna. (Sighs) What’s happening to my life? Everything’s confusing and unclear… Then someone from the outside of our room shouted…

“EVERYONE HAS A SECRET!”

Yeah, that “someone” is kind of scandalous, but what he shouted made me bother more. He’s right. Everyone has a secret. Even I do have a secret, even Harry… maybe Anna also have. I really want to know what’s her secret… but how?

~Break time, again~

“Hey, Danny, only biscuits and milk?” Harry asked me

“I’m not really in mood of eating a lot right now”

“Oh? Really? Why? Is it because of Anna?”

“Harry, do you think Anna is keeping something from me?”

“C’mon Danny! Of course she will. Both of you didn’t know each other well, yet.”

“But it really bothers me!”

“You’re just paranoid because finally you’re first love came”

“Love?!”

“Yeah, I think, you just don’t like her, you love her.”

“What—“

“Shh, Anna, Brenda, and Maggie are arriving”

“Morning guys! Maybe we can share table with you…” Brenda sat beside Harry and smiled to each other. Oh well, maybe they’re… you know

“By the way, what’s up with you guys?” Brenda asked us

“I’m currently planning a celebration” Harry speak out and smiles scarily at me

“Hey, what does it mean?” I asked Harry with a very shaky voice

“Harry, the celebration’s for what?” Maggie suddenly asked him

“Because someone around finally is falling in love”

“Who?” Maggie again

“Danny”

Everyone around shouted my name. They can’t believe what Harry just said—that I’m already falling in love.

“Really? To whom?” Oh no, it’s Anna…

“To—“ I covered Harry’s mouth.

“To milk! I’m falling in love to milk. That’s why my beverage now is milk.” That’s the most unsophisticated reason I ever give in my entire whole life…

“To milk? I thought you’re falling in love for Anna” Brenda blurted out

“What? To Anna?” Maggie looks like she’s very surprised

“Harry told me that Anna and Danny are together last night” Harry—because you told that to Brenda… I knew it… there’s already something between Harry and Brenda… I think…

“Sorry Dan” Harry apologized with a very wide smile… yeah, that’s what he called an apology…

“By the way, Maggie looks like uneasy, is it jealousy?” Brenda again!

“Jealousy? What, Maggie likes Danny?” Harry asked Brenda

“Nah! Do you know that, Maggie accidentally shouted out to us one time that she likes Anna when they first met each other?” Brenda and Harry are really compatible… Wait, MAGGIE LIKES ANNA?!

“It’s—I told you, it’s not really what you think—I mean—It’s not that serious… I’m just—she’s sweet and everything. And I’m not a lesbian… And—she’s a girl… We’re just—we’re just—the best of friends right now, right Anna?” Maggie surely looks so nervous

“Yeah, so it’s not really an issue so forget about it. And to Brenda, can you please be quiet?” Whoa, Anna’s kind of scary at that time… Maybe because the ‘Maggie-likes-Anna’ thing is not really a big matter to her and just like what Maggie said, they’re just best friends…

“Scary” Harry whispers

I can’t speak any word. Nothing’s coming out of my mouth. I’m speechless of what I just knew… Tom suddenly approached Anna and whispers something to her…

“Hey, what’s happening?” Maggie asked Anna

“We’re going to join the Book Society now” Tom answered

“You Danny, do you want to join?” Anna asked me. Well, at least when she asked me that time, she’s back to the “Sweet” Anna

“Oh, sure…”

And we go to the ‘venue’

Chapter 6

“Wow, I never thought there’s a lot of people who loves to join the Book Society!” Anna cheerfully shouted out

“Well, majority of them loves to join just because of Danny Brightside” A guy told us

“Eh? Just because of Danny?” Tom asked

“Yeah… The news that Mr. Brightside loves Books and there’s a possibility that he will join the Book Society spread out like an epidemic.”

Another so-called “Brightside” Fever which is kind of—or sometimes really—annoying. Fortunately, no one notices me, so far—

“Danny! Finally, you’re here! You know what, I love Books especially Beethoven’s!” Beethoven? Are you joking?

“Mr. Brightside, I’m a big bookworm. I always read the”Ugly Betty”!” Is it a book? I thought it’s a TV Show—

“Hey Danny! Can you read a book to me someday like “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”?” Oh my Goodness. It’s a song.

UGH! They saw me and kept telling me things with the word “Book” even though some—or all—of the things that they said are not really books. And one more thing, I don’t know every single one of them…

“Hello students! If you want to become a member of Book Society, you should answer the following questions in front of everyone else…” The teacher-in-charge announced “You still have time to back out or think of your answer to these questions—“

There are a lot of questions. And I’m not sure if I can answer them all—or if I will answer them all. After a short while, the number of students who want to join the club lessens. Then Tom laughed—

“They don’t want to answer the questions because there’s no ‘Danny’ in it!”

Because of the sudden backing out of a big number of students, Anna became the first one who will answer the questions…

I can’t really hear her answers because I’m stunned, super stunned. She’s really, indeed, so wonderful and sweet.

“Hey Danny, are you alright?” Tom asked me while waving his hand in front of my face

“Oh, me? Yeah… I am… I think—“

“Wait, it’s my turn now”

“Okay, good luck”

Tom’s answering now. I want to listen but someone caught my attention. A guy with a hood, the same guy who saved my life… I immediately ran to him because I have this intuition that he’s Dougie—

“Dougie?”

“Dougie? Who is Dougie, Danny?” A guy—who I honestly don’t really know…

“Oh, I’m sorry, I thought—“

“By the way, my name is Toni. I know we met each other this morning.”

“Um… Toni, thank you very much for saving my life… I—I gotta go…”

No. It can’t be. The guy who saved me this morning is not Dougie. But—What if he’s not really Dougie? Well, I think it’s just a product of my imagination since I’m not really awake that time. Still, it’s really too bad that it’s not Dougie. And I went back—

“Danny, you alright? You look so exhausted.” Anna asked me…

“I am—UGH! I can’t lie anymore. I’m not really okay…”

“What’s the problem? C’mon, share it with me…”

“I almost hit by a car this morning. And there was this guy who saved my life.”

“And you know that guy?”

“I thought I know him… But he wasn’t. The guy who saved my life is not my long-lost brother. I thought I will finally be with him. I thought my long search for him is going to end now… But—it’s all… just my thought.” And I laughed with no such reason. But Anna’s serious…

“Do you really want to look for him?”

“Yeah… of course…”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah—“Wait, what’s happening? I know I’m sure that I really want to look for him but her question is strange… “What do you mean of that question? That you can’t see I’m really sure that I want to look for him?”

“You said that, not me…” She’s still serious.

“Anna—“

(Breathes deeply) “I’m—I’m sorry for my seriousness. It was just because—just because—“ (Thinks deeply) “Danny, do you have any idea where’s Dougie right now?”

“Eh? Why?”

“I want to… I want to help on looking for him”

“Really? But why—“

"Because I want to help you” And smiles. Well, she got a point but—no, seriously, I want to know why. Wait, does it mean that we’re going to search together? I think there’s someone that will interrupt my moment with her—

“Hey, did I just hear a search? Can I join?” Just expected, Tom also want to join the search for Dougie

“Oh sure” Yet, Anna agreed…

But it’s okay; at least there are some people who are willing to look for him. Speaking of some people, where’s Harry?

“Danny! Danny! Danny!” Harry came running…

“What? What? What?” I jokingly asked him

“Do you know—“ Oh well, he’s serious…

“What?” So I became serious too—

“Do you know that the classes are cut because of an urgent meeting of teachers? I mean, just look at the time we have for bonding and everything!” He’s not really serious and jump because of happiness. I didn’t notice that the teacher-in-charge of the “audition” is gone. Well I think it’s because my attention’s just on Anna, Anna, and Anna… Hmm… I guess I must become happy too because of the time…

“Hello guys! Who want to have a Sleepover?” Brenda asked us…

“Are guys allowed?” Harry sweetly asked his honey—well they can’t hide it anymore, they looked so on…

“Of course, so who’s house?”

“Ours!” Maggie suddenly showed up and volunteered.

“Are you guys sure of this Sleepover? Because I thought it’s too early for it. And we didn’t know each other yet.” Yeah right, Anna got a point…

“That’s why we have a Sleepover! To know more about each other!” But Brenda also got a point…

“So, when?” Harry asked everyone else…

“Maybe next, next week…” Tom suggested

“Next, next week?! UGH! I don’t want to wait!” Brenda complained

“What if we spend this free time on looking for Danny’s lost brother?” Anna suddenly suggested—wait, she’s inviting everyone else on searching? Awww… well… I guess it will be better if we’re many…

“SURE!” Others agreed. We’re going to search for Dougie, but not just me and Anna…

“Is it going to be difficult?” Brenda asked

“Who knows?” A very well-said answer from Harry…

Yeah, he’s right. Who knows? Maybe this time we’re going to find him…

After a while, I end up searching for Dougie with Maggie. Well, I think I must learn to socialize with others too, not just to Anna. And we started searching in Downtown—while walking…

‘Wow… I never thought Downtown is kind of cool!” Maggie exclaimed

“Is it your first time here?”

“Yeah… Shucks… how embarrassing…”

“It’s okay. It’s my first time too here…”

“Really?”

“Yeah…” And we smile at each other.

“I think we’ll be best friends, too—hey, look! A theater!” Maggie told me while pointing at a certain place…

Maggie’s kind of childish, the playful and nice childish. She’s fun to be with. She’s energetic and cute… did I just call her cute? “Look! There’s a Police Station there—“

I forgot! I unfortunately and badly forgot! We’re looking for Dougie and not going out—I mean, hanging out “outside.”

“Wow, this is a police station? It’s so tall!” Maggie raised her hand to “measure” the height of the Police Station… And I laughed because she’s so innocent—plus cute

“Hey, why are you laughing? Did I do anything funny?”

“Oh, nothing, really…”

“Never mind it… let’s go…” She grabs my hand and pulls me into the Station. No way, I think we’re not just in a Police Station. It looks like an Bureau of Investigation headquarters! Uh… then she went to the information desk… but all of the people there are busy… that’s why instead of waiting for them to finish their business, Maggie told me she likes to explore the building and start by riding in an elevator…

“Wow! So clean elevator… but it looks like kind of boring…”

I laughed again… “You really act like a kid…” And I pushed the “close the door” button

“What?! Me?”

‘Yeah… but what I mean is that, you’re like innocent and playful…”

“Ahh…”

And she smiles and examines the elevator even though she said it’s boring. I stare at her for a while. What if Anna’s beside me right now? No… if Anna’s my partner in looking for Dougie, she wouldn’t bring me in a place like this… well I guess she will but she will not ride the Elevator, instead she will just wait for the “officers” to finish their business and we will sit on a couch and talk about lots of things… Oh… I forgot that we’re still holding hands…

Then the lights inside the elevator turned off…

“Whoa! Oh my God, what happened?” And she took off her hand off of mines…

“No way… where’s the emergency button?”

“Here! (She pressed it and kept shouting on the speaker-like thing above the button that we’re stuck inside an elevator)”

She’s panicked & nervous. I can see it on the way she acts that time.

“Dang! I think it’s not working!”

“Maggie, just relax—“

“But how? What if the elevator went down straight to its limit? We’re dead, swear!”

“Maggie!” I hold her shoulders and tell her, gently— “Just take a deep breath and think about the things that make you happy… Inhale, exhale...” She followed me and relaxed…

“Do you think it will be okay?”

“Yeah… just think positive…”

“Wait, I just check out if there’s any signal inside—“ She gets her cellphone inside the right pocket of her pants… “Oh no! No signal? UGH!”

“Maggie—“ I think I make her remember to just relax and think positive when I said her name…

“Sorry… I just want to call Anna and tell her that we’re stuck here…”

“Oh… it’s okay. Just relax…”

“Danny, do you have any idea how long we’re going to be stuck in this place?”

“I don’t… sorry…”

Maggie is so scared and lonely. Geez… think of any way to make a girl comfortable, Danny, think! And I smiles and—

“Maggie—“

“Danny, you know what, I miss Anna.” My smile disappears… “You miss her too, right?”

“I—of course I do… I miss everyone outside—“

Then Maggie holds her head, close her eyes, and talk to me…

“Danny! How can I get over of Anna?!”

“Ahh—ehh—“

“She’s my first best friend in my whole entire life and I freaking like her! I’m in love to a GIRL! UGH!”

She’s scary at that time… scary like she wants to kill everyone around her, well, I’m the only one around her that time… so I guess I should say, she’s really, very scary at that time… And I’m shock…
